Rev. Kris Michaelson, Rector

Having grown in me a heart for the marginalized while I served another downtown Kingston congregation, God piqued my spirit one day when it was announced St. Paul’s needed a new priest. He further confirmed His orchestration of matters when I learned some parishioners here were discipled by the same Anglican cleric who honed my own pastoral vision, though forty years later and on the other side of the country. God’s call was clear!
Since my appointment in 2010, I’ve relished the path the Holy Spirit has been forging ahead of us as a church family, broadening our Christian footprint in the local neighbourhood and growing our communal appetite for prayer, Bible-study and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others. I find St. Paul’s to be a rich field in which to nurture my own personal passions for Christian formation and liturgical innovation.
I am often found writing music, practising piano, organ and baroque recorder, or swimming (and always at the beck and call of Hudson, a princely cocker spaniel).

Linda Voteary, Organist and Choir Leader

I started attending St. Paul's church because it is my neighbourhood church and I stayed because of the warm welcome I received. In 2002, when the organist was unavailable to play, I offered to fill in on a "temporary basis." What a privilege to be able to play a Casavant pipe organ.
Singing hymns and spiritual songs together is an important part of worship and contributes to our wellbeing as Christians. I believe that everyone should feel comfortable singing regardless of their perceived talent. I have learned that when our talents, however modest, are offered to God, they will be a blessing to others.
As well as my musical responsibilities I have become involved with the many activities of the Friendship Group and serve on Parish Council. I enjoy being able to walk to church on Sunday morning from my home in the Skeleton Park neighbourhood.

Irene Flynn, Rector's Warden

The Rector's Warden is selected and appointed by Rev. Kris Michaelson. It is an honour and a privilege to fulfill this position.
I came to this parish as a teenager in the early 1950's. I was confirmed here, taught Sunday School, was a member of Young People's, and was married here.
After travelling with my military husband for 14 years, we returned to St. Paul's.
I have served as Rector's Warden for two terms. I am also a lay reader and a member of Synod Council, and have been the head of the Altar Guild for many years. I am also a member of the Friendship Group and a member of the choir.
My passion as a Christian is to become the best example I can be as a follower of Jesus.
